This policy describes cookies and similar browser storage used on the public GatherStar website at gatherstar.io. It supplements our Privacy Policy. The advertiser platform and other GatherStar subdomains may have separate storage and privacy practices.
What we store
The website uses local storage, a browser technology similar to cookies, for the preferences listed below, and a necessary cookie for Cloudflare security checks. Local storage values remain in this browser and are not sent as cookie headers with website requests.
Necessary: your cookie choice

Purpose: apply and remember whether you accept or reject optional storage. Both choices are retained for the same period.
Retention: six calendar months from your last saved choice. When it expires, we remove the preference when you next use the website and ask again.
Necessary: browser security verification
Name: cf_clearance
Provider: Cloudflare · Type: cookie on gatherstar.io
Purpose: support browser security checks and remember proof of a passed challenge, protecting the website from automated malicious traffic. This necessary security cookie is separate from optional language preferences.
Retention: up to one year in the browser with the current website settings. Cloudflare controls the validity of security verification separately and may refresh the cookie during subsequent checks. See Cloudflare’s cookie documentation and Challenge Passage.
Optional: your preferred language
Name: gatherstar-language
Provider: GatherStar · Type: local storage
Purpose: remember the website language you select for future visits. This stays off until you enable functional preferences or accept all.
Retention: until you withdraw consent or your cookie choice expires. Disabling functional preferences removes the stored language. You can continue to switch languages without saving this preference.
Website analytics
The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for website traffic and performance measurements. Cloudflare states that this service does not use cookies, local storage, or other browser storage for analytics and does not fingerprint individuals. This measurement is separate from the optional language preference in Cookie Settings. Read Cloudflare’s description of Web Analytics and its data collection documentation.
The public website currently has no Google Analytics, advertising cookies, or cookie-based analytics categories enabled. We will update this policy and the consent controls before introducing optional browser storage.
Change your choice
Open Cookie Settings in the website footer at any time. Saving applies your selection immediately. Closing the preferences panel or pressing Escape discards unsaved changes. Browsing or scrolling does not give consent.
Your choice is shared across the English and Chinese pages in this browser. If browser storage is blocked, your choice applies to the current page and the website will ask again on a future visit. Clearing browser storage also resets your choice.
